‘Nico Chkifi ‘Fnussjen’ with Arve Henriksen & Thomas Morgan’

Hushed. Meditative. Fnussjen immediately makes its presence felt with a sound that distances itself from all the noise and chaos of the world. With an unusual line-up of harp, violin, piano and drums, the quartet alternates smoothly between adventurous improvisations and compositions by the drummer Nicolas Chkifi (Laniakea, Supernova, Doko), who brought the quartet together. Echoes from folk music and contemporary classical music are never far away. For this carte blanche at Bozar, Chkifi has invited two of his favourite musicians to join him: the acclaimed Norwegian trumpet player Arve Henriksen, with his brilliantly pure sound, and the extraordinary American bassist Thomas Morgan.
