Nkisi - Jlin

Melika Ngombe Kolongo, known as Nkisi, was born in Congo, raised in Belgium and currently lives in London. Kick drums – some exceeding 160 bpm – and frenzied percussion drive this uncompromising DJ’s mesmerizing sets. Nkisi creates intense, powerful tracks influenced equally by African polyrhythms, hardcore techno and Italian horror films from the seventies. She launched her label INITIATION in 2020 with INT001, a three-track EP that blends rhythmic noise with drum patterns drawn from ancient Congolese traditions. 

Emerging from the Chicago footwork scene, Jlin has established herself as a unique voice in contemporary electronic music. With fierce polyrhythms and a raw, gritty sound, she never fails to captivate her audience. She has collaborated with artists such as Björk, Holly Herndon and SOPHIE, and her musical universe is increasingly gaining recognition across other genres. Jlin’s collaboration with Third Coast Percussion (Perspective, 2022) earned her a Pulitzer Prize nomination. Get ready for an energetic live set full of constantly shifting, complex rhythms.
