‘October (Eisenstein, 1928, Russia)’

11 Oct.'17
- 20:00

Matsenoto Trio (Granvat)

Pioneer Sergei Eisenstein’s film about the October Revolution is so realistic that many thought that October (1928) was a genuine documentary. The film uses revolutionary editing techniques to relate the dramatic events starting with Lenin's return and culminating in the fall of the Romanovs.

For the 100th anniversary of the revolution, brothers Bert and Stijn Cools, founders of the Granvat music platform, and joined by bassist Nathan Wouters, tackle the original soundtrack by Shostakovich.  This forms the point of departure for their improvisations that mix electronics and live instruments.
