with Freeka Tet
Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never, delivers a sonic hallucination with his new album Tranquilizer: rather than numbing, he lets ambient music derail into digital chaos. For his eleventh record, Lopatin found inspiration online. He salvaged remnants of commercial sample CDs from the Internet Archive and transformed them into music in which the boundaries between real and unreal blur, where samples melt away into static. "I wanted to capture the emotional register of an era where everything is archived but perpetually slipping away", says Lopatin. He is no newcomer: he composed soundtracks for films such as Uncut Gems and Good Time and has collaborated with artists including James Blake, Charli XCX, Iggy Pop, David Byrne, and Nine Inch Nails. During this show Oneohtrix Point Never is accompanied by Freeka Tet’s singular live visual aesthetic.
