​​​​​​​The Orchestre National de Lyon comes to Bozar for this exchange concert with the Belgian National Orchestra. Under the baton of the Danish-Israeli conductor Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, chief conductor of the Orchestre National de Lyon since the 2020-2021 season, the horn player Guillaume Tétu takes on a new work by the French-Lebanese composer Bechara El-Khoury. Pianist Marie-Ange Nguci then performs a solo with Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto. Carl Nielsen called his Fourth Symphony 'The Inextinguishable'. He was referring to the will to live, an unstoppable life force that pervades the whole world and cannot be extinguished. Sweet moments and sudden outbursts of rage alternate abruptly in perhaps Carl Nielsen's most dramatic work.

Due to health problems Rafał Blechacz will be unable to replace Maria João Pires. Marie-Ange Nguci will take his place to perform Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto. We wish Pires and Blechacz a speedy recovery and warmly thank Marie-Ange Nguci.
