In the presence of Lut & Wim Vandekeybus

Performer, choreographer and director Wim Vandekeybus grew up in a large family, founded a creative family with the dance company Ultima Vez, and now has children of his own. Drawing on images from performances, rehearsals, interviews and family archives, Lut Vandekeybus explores her brother's restless creativity and the way these family circles interconnect, inspire and sometimes clash with his work. Wim is an intimate but never indulgent portrait, poetic yet perceptive about one man's creative drive.

Lut Vandekeybus is a director and film producer. In a diverse filmography, her observational documentaries stand out, exploring Moroccan family life in Bletzi Bletzi (1997), Mexico's strict Mennonite community in Not All That ‘The World’ Does, Is Good for a Mennonite (1998), and a cross-cultural Qatari marriage in the award-winning Linda & Ali, Two Worlds within Four Walls (2005). These contrast with The Chinese Dog (2001), an innovative fiction short that toured 36 international festivals, winning six awards. After a period working on current affairs in the Middle-East, she returns to creative documentary with Wim (2016) and a long-term project on Qatari society.
