Over the past 50 years or more, Dieter Rams has been leaving his mark on the design of industrial and consumer products worldwide. The objects he created have touched the lives of millions of people. Many of us have purchased a coffee machine, razor, stereo system, calculator, speakers or alarm clock with a design influenced directly or indirectly by Dieter Rams.
Yet the man who emerges from this portrait is one who detests overconsumption and a long-time advocate of a collective environmental conscience and the marketing of products that last. He believes that man must be able to rid himself of distractions and visual pollution and learn to live with what he really needs.
