Shelter

In war, music is everywhere. Stirring marches and songs accompany soldiers to the battlefield. Behind the front line music provides distraction and offers solace. The violence of war affects composers too. Some simply stop writing, whereas others are prolific and use music to process their intense emotions. So it was that composers attempted to deal with the horrors during and after the First World War. Revue Blanche presents musical testimonies to the emotional depth of these artists, including Gurney, de Falla, Debussy, Eisler, Granados and Ravel.
