Jazz and soul singer Rohey Taalah has found her soulmate in the saxophonist Martin Myhre Olsen. The two Norwegian musicians have been building up a reputation as members of formations such as Rohey, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Gurls in recent years. Now their own sound is solid as a rock. The key question that brought them together was: how can you create an orchestral soundscape with simple ingredients, only the voice and saxophone? We will find out together in the timeless work of Aretha Franklin, Joni Mitchell, Laura Mvula and countless standards.
Robinson Khoury takes his new band MŸA in search of the origin of life. That’s no simple task, but a feasible challenge for the eclectic trombonist. Middle Eastern scales are the compass in his quest. Many jazz musicians have been here before him, but the combination of acoustic instruments, modular synths and electronic drums brings a breath of fresh air. The wordless singing of the entire band, Anissa Nehari on percussion and Léo Jassef op keys set the group’s course. The rising star of French jazz is at the helm.
