‘Samvaad by Abhisek Lahiri, Somdatta Chatterjee and Ishaan Ghosh’

Classical music is not exclusive to Europe, as this concert dedicated to the musical treasures of India reminds us. Three leading musicians bundle their respective talents and knowledge under the name Samvaad (“dialogue” in Hindi) to touch us through the universal language of music. Abhisek Lahiri, the group’s driving force, masters the art of the sarod, a stringed instrument usually played to accompany singing, specific to the classical music of North India. In his ragas improvisations, Lahiri enriches traditional structures with unexpected melodic twists. He is joined by the powerful voice of Somdatta Chatterjee, who trained with Vidushi Subhra Guha, the doyenne of Agra Gharana, Indian classical singing, and Ishaan Ghosh, young tabla virtuoso, son and disciple of Pandit Nayan Ghosh.
