Concert Croissant #4
French-Dutch viola player Sào Soulez-Larivière was named ‘Young Musician of the Year’ at the International Classical Music Awards 2023. He is an intriguing personality thanks to his artistic choices, endearing thanks to his ability to communicate with audiences, and fascinating thanks to his incredible musical talent. The first guest of this season's six ECHO Rising Stars, Sào presents LoCoMotion, a musical exploration of the terms ‘motion’, ‘commotion’ and ‘locomotion’. From the fiery flair of Hindemith to the hypnotic minimalist motifs of Reich, from the visceral energy of Wolfe - whose work is making its Belgian premiere - to the complex polyrhythms of Ligeti, this programme rivals your ritual cup of coffee for a rousing start to the day.
Rising Stars is a project of the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO). Sào Soulez Larivière has been nominated by the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, MÜPA Budapest and The Barbican Centre London.
