Perija

The folk band Perija juggle a wealth of musical influences. At the heart of their music lie the traditional Middle Eastern maqam and North African music, enriched with elements of blues, post-punk and jazz. Singing in a variety of languages of the Balkans, the band seek to express equality between nations and ethnic groups. The themes of their songs vary from major contemporary social issues to old and often morbid village songs.

Georges Xylouris

Hearing George Xylouris sing and play on his long-necked lute is a unique experience. He learned to play the instrument as a child on the village square in Anogeia, a Cretan village rich in tradition. His lute has never left him since. Although he usually shares his passion with fellow musicians, tonight he is coming to Bozar as a solo artist. He accompanies his playing with a distinctive voice that sings of his origins. He has performed at major festivals and concert halls in Europe, North America and Australia.
