Shubhendra Rao & Saskia Rao-de Haas

Cellist Saskia Rao-De Haas fell so deeply in love with Indian classical music that she eventually married one of its stars. In sitar player Shubhendra Rao, she found not only a guru, but also a husband and concert partner. Shubhendra studied under none other than Ravi Shankar and is acclaimed worldwide as a worthy successor. Fascinated and inspired, Saskia modified her cello to capture the microtones of Indian ragas even more beautifully. Their shared passion also extends beyond the stage: through their foundation, they bring music into the curriculum of thousands of Indian schoolchildren. In this intimate concert, percussionist Anubrata Chatterjee on tabla accompanies them.
