Meet the writer

There’s no need to present the American writer Siri Hustvedt. She has written several books, including international bestsellers such as What I loved and Summer without men. Her nonfiction has also garnered a lot of praise, such as the recently published A Woman Looking at Men Looking at Women. Essays on art, sex and the mind.

Hustvedt will talk with Ruth Joos about art, the mind and her recent novel Memories of the Future. Time, memory and desire are the central themes of this story about a young woman who moves to New York in the late seventies and becomes obsessed by her mysterious neighbour. Forty years later, the now successful writer finds the notebooks, in which she recorded her neighbour’s monologues as she listened to her through the thin walls of their apartment.
