With Ibrahim Ahmed & Déborah Claire
Back on Bozar’s sofa for a new edition of our Sofa Sessions An intimate moment of exchange between artists and audience, in an intergenerational dialogue about beauty and ugliness echoing the Bellezza e Bruttezza and Picture Perfect exhibitions.
Before taking your seat for the discussion, let yourself be inspired by a tour of the Picture Perfect exhibition with artist Ibrahim Ahmed.
Join an inspiring conversation between Ibrahim Ahmed and Déborah Claire on reclaiming one’s body beyond imposed stereotypical beauty standards. Through a process of deconstructing and reconstructing images, Ibrahim Ahmed, photographer and installation artist, interrogates masculinity as a performative construct. Together with Déborah Claire, curator and co-founder of Dis Mon Nom, they will explore the layered, generational influences that shape masculine, feminine, and queer identities. How have the ideas of “man” and “woman,” still largely conceived in opposition, been constructed through visual paradigms and cultural norms? They will open a space to challenge these systemic ideals and embrace the possibility of becoming “disobedient bodies.”
