With Moshtari Hilal & Maryam Kamal Hedayat
Featuring Moshtari Hilal, artist and author of Ugliness, and artist and curator Maryam Kamal Hedayat, this session explores the tensions between beauty and ugliness, pushing the boundaries of these often opposing concepts.
Through her visual collages, poetry and photography, Hilal critically investigates dominant aesthetic norms. She does not seek to redefine beauty or to propose alternative beauties, but rather to question the frameworks that shape our collective ideas of belonging and worth.
Together, they examine how we can come to terms with our own image and how beauty can be redefined. How can ugliness become an act of resistance? Can these opposing ideas relate to each other, or even be reinvented together?
The evening begins with a visit to the Picture Perfect exhibition, followed by a poetic intervention by Moshtari Hilal.
