‘Sowal Diabi: From Kabul to Bamako’

14 Nov.'23
- 20:30

Sowal means 'question' in Persian and diabi 'answer' in Bambara. Sowal Diabi links Persian and Mandingo cultures in an ambitious project highlighting the contribution exiles make to their host countries. This multidisciplinary and transcultural project brings together musicians, actors and stylists on the Bozar stage, each of whom is endowed with the otherness that enriches our societies. Mali's Mamani Keïta will weave a vocal dialogue with her Iranian counterpart Aïda Nosrat, while the orchestra will feature, among others, the tar (Persian lute) of Sogol Mirzaei, the saz (Turkish lute) and the oud of the Kurdish virtuoso Ruşan Filiztek, the tabla of the Afghan Siar Hashimi, and the intoxicating rhythmic freshness of the French ethio-jazz group Arat Kilo. A real celebration of diversity and dialogue.
