Spëcht

spëcht, previously Hands in Motion, is reputed to be Belgium’s most exciting percussion trio. The three musicians create virtuoso combinations of acoustic instruments and electronic effects. Instruments from all over the world come together in their musical universe: the darbuka, doholla, udu, gongs, kalimbas, bendirs and more. Prepare for an astonishing concert that cuts a direct swathe between catchy grooves and intoxicating trance.

Arsenal Mikebe

The Ugandan percussion trio Arsenal Mikebe dance like no other on the border between acoustic and electronic music. They belong to the Nyege Nyege fold, the exciting label that loves to do things a little differently. Hypnotising chants and subtle synths hover above rousing tempos and inimitable polyrhythms. Central to their music and their debut album, Drum Machine, is a unique instrument built for the trio by the sculptor Henry ‘Sega’ Segamwenge: a ‘percussion machine’ inspired by the sound of the iconic Roland TR-808 beatbox, the quintessential drum machine for hip hop and electronic music. Electronics suit this instrument perfectly, resulting in frenzied performances every time.
