‘Walk With Me - Nadine Baboy’
7 Nov. →
This event can not take place due to the latest restrictions regarding COVID-19. If you have already purchased a ticket for the event, you can find all necessary information here.
In the Walk With Me series, a guest speaker from beyond the walls of BOZAR takes you on a personal stroll through the exhibition. More than just a tour, it’s a journey with a personal story relating to such themes as gender, religion, cultural identity and sexuality. Sometimes subtle, often radical, and always interesting.
Nadine Baboy is a Belgian-Congolese artist. As a dancer, choreographer, actress and poet, she draws her inspiration from the fusion of artistic and cultural diversity. Her passion for dance and the mixing of genres translates into hybrid movements enriched by the different influences that mark her work, including Afro-contemporary, hip-hop, dancehall and various urban dances such as waacking. This versatile artist is part of the Impulsion Dance collective, with which she has been working since 2009.
Nadine Baboy revealed her broad artistic range with her first creations, Terre Riche and Désintégration Culturelle. Her multidisciplinary performances, which put poetry into motion, have been enthusiastically received. In 2016, she received the second prize for her Terre Riche solo at the 1000 Pieces Puzzle from Zinnema, and the following year she won the first Brussels Bijou Prize with her second creation, Désintégration Culturelle, at BOZAR. Both performances tackle powerful themes that connect the artist’s African roots and her European background.
