Wishful thinking

A pedestrian – the filmmaker equipped with a tiny pocket camera – wanders through Brussels and encounters Polish, Iranian, Brazilian, Belgian, and Moroccan workers. They slip small pieces of paper into the columns, the walls, and the floors of construction sites: secret wishes intended for future generations.

As she roams the city, filming the messages hidden behind the bricks, beneath the cobblestones, on the traffic poles and at the bases of statues, the wanderer wonders: ”You may be walking on a builder’s wish.

Moi aussi je regarde

The first feminist gesture is to say: “OK, they’re looking at me. But I’m looking back at them.” The act of deciding to look, of deciding that the world is not defined by how people see me, but how I see them.” ― Agnès Varda

Moi aussi, je regarde is an experimental documentary film which portrays widely reproduced building the unité d’habitation in Marseille designed by Atelier Le Corbusier through the stories of its female inhabitants in an attempt to give the building its own agency to not only be looked at but to be empowered to look back in the masculine world of modernity.

This film screening is brought to you in the context of the Festival of the New European Bauhaus 2026.
