‘ZAIKO Langa Langa’

Opening doors: 19:00

The Democratic Republic of Congo’s most famous orchestra celebrates its 50th birthday! No other Congolese band comes close in terms of longevity.

During half a century of intense musical activity, Zaïko Langa Langa has forged its own unique and instantly recognisable style. The ‘Zaïko style’, a mixture of hyper-beat rumba and funk, set Kinshasa’s dance halls on fire, offering Congolese youth a jubilant and liberating musical experience. Since its creation on 24 December 1969, the group has welcomed a series of extraordinary musicians, including Jossart Nyoka Longo, but also Jules Shungu Wembadio Pene Kikumba, known as Papa Wemba, guitarist Pépé Felly Manuaku, singer Evoloko Joker Lay Gola and many others. BOZAR hosts an exceptional evening featuring Jossart Nyoka Longo, charismatic leader and founding member of the group, surrounded by some 20 talented Congolese musicians. An unmissable concert for whoever loves swaying rhythms, to be enjoyed in the sublime setting of the Henry Le Boeuf Hall at the Fine Arts Centre in Brussels.
