5 Concerts to Celebrate the New Year

The winter hour has set in and our calendar is getting thinner and thinner. The year is coming to an end. Fortunately, we can look forward to 2025, because the new year will be celebrated extensively at Bozar with New Year concerts and festivals. Are you a loyal fan of our orchestra in residence Belgian National Orchestra or rather curious about our global concerts? Then read on.

  1. Grand Chinese New Year Concert

The China Conservatory of Music Traditional Orchestra ushers in the year of the snake with a grand New Year's concert at Bozar on 29 January. Setting off fireworks in the Henry Le Boeuf hall is not allowed, but the orchestra members still manage to make it a sparkling celebration. Their gunpowder? A traditional repertoire covering no less than 3,000 years of musical history.

  1. Klarafestival 2025

Just when all the champagne glasses and garlands have been put away, we can get ready for another festival. The Klara Festival will celebrate its 20th edition in 2025 from March 20 to 30. Under the title We Are Now, this special anniversary edition pays tribute to the here and now. No one embraces the magic of the moment more fearlessly than festival artist Patricia Kopatchinskaja (see video below). Jazz icon Wynton Marsalis will present three different concerts at Bozar, and for just one day, Mont des Arts will be transformed into the Muziekberg /Mont des Musiques with concerts at various venues.

Past concerts:

  1. Belgian National Orchestra, Hoving & Sáinz Villegas

As is tradition, the Belgian National Orchestra kicks off the festivities. Led by young Finnish conductor Emilia Hoving and featuring Spanish guitarist Pablo Sáinz-Villegas as soloist, the orchestra will present an exuberant programme of music from different continents. The Radetzky March by Johann Strauss Sr. cannot be missed, of course. Neither should you, for that matter.

  1. Symfonieorkest van de Munt & Altinoglu

It's best not to make any other plans on 5 January, because after the Belgian National Orchestra, La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra takes our stage. Conductor Alain Altinoglu will show you all facets of the Viennese waltz. Swing along to Johann Strauss Sr's Die Fledermaus, tap along to the rhythm of Richard Strauss's orchestral suites or lose yourself in Maurice Ravel's unchained La Valse.

  1. Amazigh Spring

Bozar is proud to present a new edition of Amazigh Spring, a musical celebration dedicated to the culture of the first inhabitants of North Africa, the Amazigh. The evening, with performances by AmZik, among others, is dedicated to unity and new beginnings; Amazigh Spring or Yennayer is in fact the first month of the Amazigh calendar. What better way to celebrate it than with music? See you on 11 January!
