A strong voice through sensitive films

'Next Generation, Please!' offers a platform to young people aged 15 to 26 who are emerging as conscious and empowered citizens in a society where their opinions and ideas are worth being heard. This year's project is dedicated to 'moving image'.

Five groups of adolescents will present the films they spent a year working on with professionals. Discover the ideas, wishes and dreams for the future of these young creatives who take a fresh look at society.

Come attend the screenings during the NGP! Film Festival on May 19 and participate in all kinds of peripheral activities in the presence of the filmmakers!

The five films

1. innerEScape

In collaboration with artist collective KNEPH, young people reflect on the future that awaits them. In a poetic and experimental way, the film searches for answers to various crises in today’s society.

2. A Castle Made of Sand

Young refugees from Fedasil portray their first days and experiences in Belgium in a series of raw smartphone films. From a unique perspective, the film shows the everyday tribulations of young people on the run.

3. We Komen Van Ver

The film depicts along an audiovisual journey the social obstacles and personal victories faced by young newcomers in the Netherlands, in collaboration with Ithaka ISK.

4. Hymnorama

Students from the Kunsthumaniora Brussel and Collectif Mal Temperado reworked the Belgian hymn into a contemporary version where hope and new ideas reflect the world of today and tomorrow.

5. Candela

"Magic is people, illusionism is what traps them."
A road movie shot in Brussels. It portrays three Latin American friends who love each other and live together in the city.

Just like in Cannes

The Next Generation, Please! Film Festival will take place at the Center for Fine Arts on May 19. Bozar is on par with Cannes, as the program is well packed with film screenings, workshops, DJs and the Bozar Young Ambassadors who unite topics such as identity, Europe, moving images and youth into a remarkable film experience.

BNP Paribas Fortis as trusted partner

Once again, Bozar could count on the support of BNP Paribas Fortis for the realisation of the Next Generation, Please! project. For years, Bozar has shared several values with its main partner. This resulted in a collaboration between the art house and the Belgian bank that remains strong to this day and from which several valuable projects have already emerged.

Like Bozar, BNP Paribas Fortis is committed to a world where inclusion and diversity are central, and where attention is paid to social challenges. Through joint projects, we want to give young people the opportunity to develop themselves today so that they are ready to leave a positive impact on the world of tomorrow.
