Vula Viel, a group from London, are dedicated to exploring the possibilities of the gyil, a wooden xylophone from West Africa. They deploy the instrument in a habitat of rough post-punk, electronica and minimal music. The band was formed in 2013 by Bex Bruch, who spent three years in Ghana following her studies at the Guildhall School in London, learning there the secrets of the gyil. Their first album Good is Good received unanimous praise in the press including The Guardian, The Financial Times and Jazzwise. This is Vula Viel’s first ever performance in Belgium
