Asaf Avidan is coming to Bozar on 31 October
Not an escape from reality, but rigorous introspection filtered through beauty and dignity: this is the attitude to which singer-songwriter Asaf Avidan repeatedly professes. Until 2010, Asaf Avidan & The Mojos were a purely Israeli folk phenomenon. The song The Reckoning, discovered and remixed by Berlin DJ Wankelmut, catapulted the musician into the international spotlight. Ten years after that initial big bang, Asaf Avidan is still churning out infinitely beautiful gems, the most recent ones being the songs from his latest album Anagnorisis. On 31 October, Asaf Avidan is coming to Brussels. This time, he will play the stars of heaven at Bozar with a more intimate set.
Five years since his last solo performance, Asaf Avidan will be returning to the stage alone for the new - Ichnology Solo Tour. Like in previous beloved and acclaimed solo tours, his fans can look forward to unforgettable evenings where he will once again prove that he is truly a unique artist of his time. Navigating seamlessly between his intimate serenades, his charismatic storytelling, and his energetic multi-instrumental wizardry, Avidan alone on the stage is a force to behold.
Until 2011, Asaf Avidan & The Mojos were an Israeli folk phenomenon. After this, Asaf walked his own path with his first solo album 'Different Pulses' (2013). With that single, he managed to quiet people worldwide with his raw interpretation of music with poignant lyrics and a soulful voice that sounds almost supernatural and human at the same time. His second solo album 'Gold Shadow' (2014) exudes a mix of folk, indie, blues rock led by pure emotions. After the success of both solo albums and sold-out concerts around the world, 'The Study On Falling' (2017) was another hit. With this album, Asaf proves that he is above all a singer, writer and composer. For his most recent record 'Anagnorisis' (2020), he took inspiration from other genres than usual such as hip hop, modern pop, gospel music and listened to "Thom Yorke, The Fugees, David Bowie, old school jazz and even contemporary pop like Billie Eilish or Kanye West." On this record, Asaf explores every colour of his voice: from piercing falsetto over theatrical baritone to his androgynous sound.
Get carried away by the sheer talent of this phenomenal singer on 31 October at the Bozar in Brussels!
