DAY 4

The theme of the final day of Balkan Trafik! is film and partying. The Brussels Short Film Festival makes a selection of short films which take you on a journey through the stunning scenery of South-East Europe and its surroundings. After the projection it’s time to close the festival on the Mont des Arts in the company of the Albanian dance and music ensemble Lunxhëria.

* Yect (Pride) - Pavel G. Vesnakov (2013 - BG | DE - 30’ - VO st EN)
Manol, a retired grandfather, is a patriarch of firm morals and fixed beliefs which he has always upheld in his household. But on this day he learns that the boy he’s raised is gay. The life choices of his loved ones challenge his values in a battle he has lost by default.

* Short for Vernesa B. - Jons Vukorep (2012 - BA | DE - 11’ - VO st EN)
The actress Vernesa B. is forced to flee Bosnia during the war. As an illegal immigrant in Germany, she struggles to get by, but finally picks up acting again. The only work she is being offered, however, is to play Eastern European women with difficult social backgrounds, making her live through her nightmares again and again.

19:00 & 20:30 - Folk Ensemble Lunxhëria @ Mont des Arts
Lunxhëria's mix of compositions for clarinet and instrumental ensemble, polyphonic songs, and traditional dances offers a tribute to the cultural riches of the region in Albania from which they take their name. The twenty-strong ensemble in colourful costume has been singing about the spiritual heritage of the ancient Albanian people since 1937. The men and women of Lunxhëria are coming to Brussels with a programme designed to bring the hospitality and outstanding beauty of southern Albania.
