‘Beethoven: Missa solemnis - Philippe Herreweghe’

17 Dec.'22
- 20:00

Beethoven explained the purpose of his substantial mass, the Missa solemnis; “My aim in this composition for this huge mass is both to stir and constantly preserve the religious emotions of both the singers and the listeners.” He slogged away for four years on the construction of this cathedral of sound and delivered, without question, one of the most monumental masses in western music. Beethoven had every reason for regarding this mass as his magnum opus. Collegium Vocale Gent offers you the opportunity to indulge in this masterpiece, with the support of several top soloists.
