New Year’s Concert - Waltzes, Operas & Films
The Belgian National Orchestra kicks off the new year under the leadership of the American conductor Ryan McAdams with music that sparkles like champagne; enchantingly cunning and festively mischievous. In addition to work from the king of the waltz, Johann Strauss Jr., including An der schönen blauen Donau, the orchestra will also play some opera and operetta fragments by Jacques Offenbach. This will include the world-famous Barcarole, the intoxicating Venetian gondola song that opens the fourth act of Les contes d'Hoffmann. Nino Rota has been immortalised as the composer of the film scores of The Godfather trilogy and Federico Fellini's films. Music from Fellini’s films 8½ and Amarcord will be performed during the New Year concert.
