After last season's La valse and Les valses sentimentales, the Israeli pianist continues his Ravelian exploration at Bozar. With Remembrance, Boris Giltburg echoes the colourful reminiscences of a reinvented musical past. He begins with Busoni's post-Romantic piano re-reading of Bach's famous Chaconne for violin, then plunges you into two sublime pieces by Ravel: Pavane pour une infante défunte and Le tombeau de Couperin. Leaving sweet nostalgia behind, he then moves on to the meanderings of Chopin's Second Piano Sonata, before ending this recital with an extremely sensitive piece, the Sonata-Reminiscenza, the opening piece of Nikolai Medtner's Forgotten Melodies cycle.
