Ivan Karizna , Prizewinner Queen Elisabeth Competition 2017, cello
The Byelorussian cellist Ivan Karizna was fifth laureate of the 2017 Queen Elisabeth Competition; he also won the public prize, and rightly so, because he is a young musician with a great deal of maturity. You only need to look at the programme of this recital, with few big names, to see that. He has an encouraging way of looking at music: “Being a musician is a huge responsibility… We have to pass on a message, share the beauty of the music with the audience” This recital promises to be a real treat.
