‘Bozar Next Generation: Ensemble La Française’

16 Jan.'22
- 11:00

Docere, delectare, movere (to teach, to delight, to move). Since its creation in 2013, the ensemble La Française has drawn inspiration from Cicero’s maxim to share its taste for rocaille art – an under-appreciated yet fascinating style of art. Beyond aesthetic research, the ensemble likes to add an extra dimension to its programmes, through multidisciplinary projects or by rescuing unjustly neglected musicians from the dustbin of history. For its concert at Bozar, La Française pays tribute to Louis-Gabriel Guillemain (1705-1770), a violinist in the King’s Chamber, hailed in his day as “the fastest and most extraordinary violin to be heard”.
