‘Bozar Next Generation: SUPERNOVA 2022’

13 Mar.'22
- 11:00

Every year, experienced programmers from the classical music world select two Belgian chamber music ensembles. SUPERNOVA is an incentive prize that gives young artists recognition and the opportunities to perform: a calling card at the start of a promising career. The two celebrated Supernovas win a Belgian concert tour. The first concert on this tour takes place at Bozar as part of Klarafestival 2022. Supernovas also receive media attention from both Klara and Musiq’3, as well as support in developing their professional careers.

This year, Firgun Ensemble and Goggles were crowned Supernova 2022.

Firgun Ensemble consists of Emile Souvagie (clarinet), Ludovic Bataillie (violin), Ciska Vandelanotte (violin II), Jasmien Van Hauthem (viola) and Karin Broeckhove Ibarra (cello). Together they explore the repertoire for clarinet and string quartet. 'Firgun' (from the Hebrew) means as much as 'being happy about the happiness that comes to someone else'.

Wim Pelgrims (percussion) and Esther-Elisabeth Rispens (voice) form the energetic and playful duo Goggles. They have a predilection for theatrical contemporary music and combine their talent, cheerfulness and an unusual set of instruments with one aim: to give the audience a feel-good experience.
