Opera for kids
Tom Goossens and his DESCHONECOMPANIE completely pull Handel’s famous opera Semele apart and build an exciting story with the pieces, about playing together and alone, doing and allowing, light and music. In the opera, the chief god Jupiter seduces the human girl Semele. Juno, Jupiter’s wife, is seething with jealousy. She disguises herself as Semele’s sister and manipulates the young girl towards her downfall. Fate strikes, and Jupiter unwittingly causes Semele’s death. With just three actors and a lute, DESCHONECOMPANIE tells the story of Jupi and Semele in an opera for toddlers.
