Ellington, Beal, Gershwin
Following his residency in 2022, Bozar looks forward to a festive reunion with jazz legend Branford Marsalis. In recent years, he has increasingly appeared alongside classical orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He also reveals his most ‘classical’ side when performing with the GRAMMY-winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Duke Ellington’s orchestral works have revived 65 years on, while Jeff Beal has written a Concerto for Saxophone tailor-made for Orpheus and Marsalis, with the ink on the staves still wet. And anyone who mentions jazz and classical music in the same breath is, of course, talking about George Gershwin. With An American in Paris, he looked back on the roaring twenties in Paris, complete with honking taxis!
