Lindberg: Three Dalecarlian Paintings, op. 1:I
Andrée: Symphony in 1 Movement (world premiere)
Larsson: Pastoralsvit, op. 19
Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 3 (“Scottish”)

Following the success of its sold-out Opening Concert, the Brussels Chamber Ensemble is thrilled to perform in BOZAR again for its Spring Concert.

To honour the Swedish Presidency of the EU, the first part of the programme will be devoted exclusively to Swedish romantic music.
The programme will include an exciting world premiere of a Symphony in 1 Movement (“Symfonisats”) by Elfrida Andrée (1841-1929) a female composer, prominent suffragette and the first Swedish female conductor. The piece was discovered by the Brussels Chamber Ensemble in manuscript form in the Swedish National Music and Theatre Archives. The first part of the programme will also feature Lars-Erik Larsson’s “Pastoralsvit”, a three-movement lyrical suite for orchestra, and one of the most celebrated pieces of Swedish classical music, as well as dances by Tor Aulin and Oskar Lindberg.

For the second part of the programme, the Brussels Chamber Ensemble continues its northern journey from Sweden to Scotland, performing Mendelssohn’s powerful, romantic and expressive “Scottish” Symphony (No. 3).

The Brussels Chamber Ensemble consists of professional musicians and high-level amateurs, all enjoined by their love for music-making.
