Cassie Kinoshi’s SEED

Alto saxophonist Cassie Kinoshi is no longer simply a former member of Kokoroko or Nérija. The London-based musician has become one of the leading figures on the city’s jazz scene, while also building an impressive body of work as a composer for film, theatre and dance. She is an artist-in-residence at the Southbank Centre and writes for London’s major symphony orchestras. With her ten-piece band seed., she combines cinematic arrangements with jazz, West African beats and Caribbean grooves. The ensemble functions as a collective in which individual voices merge into one. The music remains in motion: carefully constructed, yet never static.
