Bach before Bach

In 17th-century Italy, the violin became the king of instruments, not least when composers wanted to express great emotion through music. Violinist Chouchane Siranossian, cellist Balázs Máté and harpsichordist Leonardo García Alarcón together unearth some of the most beautiful and expressive Stylus Phantasticus gems. Among others, Carlo Farina, Johann Heinrich Schmelzer and Johann Sebastian Bach grace the programme. Expect uninhibited compositions with extravagant continuo and wildly swinging bows that create colourful melodies.
