Cinémathèque FWB celebrates 70 years

The Cinémathèque de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles (the Film Library of the Federation Wallonia-Brussels) is celebrating its 70th anniversary.

In seven decades, it has built up a collection of more than 8,000 Belgian and international films and recently began the Cinéastes d’aujourd’hui collection, a documentary series on contemporary Belgian filmmakers.

In order to celebrate this anniversary in a fitting manner, the Cinémathèque has come up with some unknown and emblematic films from its collection. In collaboration with BOZAR, it is organising three themed sessions: Toute une époque (A whole era), Ici et ailleurs (Here and elsewhere) and Cinéma d’animation (Animated films).

In the evening, the Film Library of the Federation Wallonia-Brussels will be previewing the latest film in its Cinéastes d’aujourd’hui collection, Au-delà des mots, le cinéma de Joachim Lafosse by Luc Jabon and Scarface, the only time Joachim Lafosse has agreed to go behind the camera for the famous programme Strip-tease, in the presence of the directors.
