Europalia Arts Festival Romania

Concert film: Manasse - Jean Mihail

8 Dec.'19
- 19:00

Official opening of Videograms of a Nation

The opening of the film programme is a tribute to the early days of Romanian cinema. We are screening Jean Mihail’s silent film Manasse (1925), accompanied by live music from Volekh.

Europalia Romania’s film programme, Videograms of a Nation, recognises Europe’s continuing need to engage with its own past and future. It commemorates 30 years since the 1989 revolution and pays homage to Harun Farocki and Andrei Ujica’s seminal work exploring the visual medium’s representation of the history.
Videograms of a Nation invites audiences to embark on a two-month journey through one of the most comprehensive retrospectives of Romanian cinema.
