Derya Türkan, Murat Aydemir & Christos Barbas

Bozar is proud to welcome three masters of classical Ottoman music: Derya Türkan, Murat Aydemir and Christos Barbas. All three of them give instruments with age-old roots an international allure. Derya Türkan works wonders on the Istanbul kemençesi, presenting a new album with the famous tanbur virtuoso Murat Aydemir. It is the successor to the acclaimed Ahenk 2, which combines pieces from Ottoman repertoire with improvisations. The combination of the tanbur and ney, in turn, is ideal to express the classical Turkish makam. Along with the Greek ney player and composer Christos Barbas, Aydemir presents their latest album Book of Birds, which comprises of contemporary modal music. The finale is for all three of them together, during which the Brussels based oud player Tristan Driessens - who produced both albums with Seyir Müzik - joins in. Prepare for some exceptional musicians who bring this rich repertoire to life like no others can.
