WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY
World Press Freedom Day is 3 May. The day when the United Nations seeks to raise awareness of the importance of this fundamental freedom and remind governments of their duty to respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression
The "Fourth Power" is a counterbalance to the legislative, executive and judicial powers. Even in democratic countries, commitment to their cause remains necessary. The "Fourth Power" is never totally free of the pressures exercised by the political, economic or religious spheres.
On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, 3 May has been declared "Difference Day". A day that will pay homage to persons and organizations dedicated to the protection and promotion of these values.
