Douglas Gordon by Douglas Gordon is an unflinchingly raw and intimate portrait of the celebrated boundary pushing artist which blurs the border between reality and performance.

Raised in Glasgow, Scotland during the Margaret Thatcher era, Gordon is among the most important and influential artists of his generation. Best known for his films and large-scale video installations such as 24 Hour Psycho and the 2006 Cannes masterpiece Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait.

Through this multifaceted portrait, we witness how Gordon has sacrificed everything for his art.

Douglas Gordon, who lives and works in Berlin, Germany studied at Glasgow School of Art and Slade School of Art in London.

Using a variety of media, including film, text, photography, installation, and sound, his practice can be likened to a process of sampling and remixing. His work often involves re-contextualising found footage and imagery through editing techniques such as slow motion and doubling, as a means of exploring our perception of time and memory. By blurring the distinction between appropriated and original material, his pieces re-articulate the relationship between copy and original, text and image.

Often epic in scale, the artist's work engages with ethical and existential conflicts; the struggle between life and death, good and evil, innocence and guilt.
