How has Senegalese Sufism evolved since the colonial period to the modern-day religious crisis? What does the future hold? During this lecture, he will address past and future of Senegalese Sufism, professed today by about 95% of the population.
Dr. Bakary Sambe is the founder of the Observatory of Religious Radicalism and Conflict in Africa (ORCRA). He heads the Timbuktu Institute - African Center for Peace Studies (Dakar) and is assistant-professor at the Center for the Study of Religions (CER - Gaston Berger University of Saint-Louis, Senegal).
