Here’s a chance for pupils between 12 and 14 years of age to discover the power of their voice! The people behind the international children’s film festival Filem'on are bringing three great short films to the classroom to prepare your pupils for the Young Audience Award which will take place on Sunday 8 May 2016. During this event the young people get to watch three feature length films which have been selected by the prestigious European Film Academy before voting for their favourite. Your pupils will be able to decide which film wins the Young Audience Award at exactly the same time as participants in Tbilisi, London and Barcelona.

The nominated films:

GIRLS LOST
Director: Alexandra-Therese Keining
Sweden
104 min.

Kim, Bella and Momo are three teenage girls who are trying to find themselves. In a dark world of teenage violence, marginalisation and sexual confusion, the girls only have each other. A seismic shift happens when they discover a curious plant in their beloved greenhouse. It turns out to have mysterious magical qualities that, when consumed, temporarily turns the girls into boys. At first they enjoy a new-found freedom but they soon discover that being a boy isn’t as easy as it seems.

RAUF
Directors: Bariş Kaya, Soner Caner
Turkey
94 min.

At eleven years of age Rauf falls in love with a young girl. He tries to make her happy in a world which is gradually losing its colour, even in the clear light of day. Pink is the shade of Rauf’s story and the colour that he is seeking everywhere. In this film the pink flowers symbolise the resistance to a world which is getting darker and darker, the rebellion of unfulfilled dreams and the light that each incomplete life is hiding.

MISS IMPOSSIBLE
Director: Emilie Deleuze
France
90 min

Some would say Aurore leads a boring life. But when you are a 13 year old girl and have an uncompromising way of looking at boys, school, family or friends, life sometimes starts to feel like a jolly psychodrama. Especially when a new French teacher comes along, you are threatened with being sent to boarding school, repeatedly fall in love and have the crazy idea of going on stage with a band.
