‘Europe Talk: the Europe we want, the Europe we need’

with Margrethe Vestager,Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya & Marija Burić

Europe has found itself facing unprecedented challenges over the past several years. The European Union has to prove its effectiveness and its relevance once again. To really count as a key strategic geopolitical actor, it is essential to look to the Near and Far East, as well as maintain the strong partnership with the United States. While the EU has gained prominent momentum due to its swift response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, is this decades-old organization really in a position to be – or become – the ultimate decision maker to shape the direction of the Old Continent?

CEPS (Centre for European Policy Studies) and Bozar are delighted to invite you to a debate to reflect on one fundamental question – Why did we create Europe, as we know it today, in the first place? Is it the Europe we want? And which Europe do we need? Confirmed speakers for the debate include Margrethe Vestager, European Commissioner for Competition, Marija Pejčinović Burić, Secretary General, Council of Europe, and Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, leader of the Belarusian democratic movement.
