Czech composer Jan Dismas Zelenka was appointed to court of Dresden where he lived a relatively unknown existence from 1679 to his death in 1745. Nevertheless, non other than his contemporary Johann Sebastian Bach was a huge fan of his work. Just like Bach, Zelenka could synthesise all of the contemporary composition techniques. Over the past few years, there has been a genuine renaissance in Zelenka's work. The Prague Ensemble Inégal, major experts in Zelenka’s music, have created an anthology of the first two cycles of his masterful Psalmi vespertini.
