The "Festival van de gelijkheid" is a day of inspirational debates, encounters and activities all relating to equality. In the Centre for Fine Arts our host Francesca Vanthielen gives the floor to Michel Bauwens. He is the driving force behind the Foundation for Peer-to-Peer Alternatives (P2P-Foundation), a worldwide network that studies peer-to-peer initiatives. In these initiatives people share knowledge, products or services in online communities. A good example is the Wikipedia website where worldwide knowledge is gathered and shared. Bauwens believes that these initiatives can provide a valuable economic alternative to the capitalist system.
After his enthusiastic presentation you will find out about ten original peer-to-peer networks such as Tournevie, a non-profit tool library and ReBelles D’Anvers, Belgium’s first clothes library.
