Concert Croissant #14

Giorgi Gigashvili was able to call himself a BBC New Generation Artist from 2023 to 2025, and now he is also one of the ECHO Rising Stars for the ’25-’26 season. The Georgian is a pianist like no other. He studied the piano without every thinking about a professional career as a pianist, but eventually his journey took him to great international success. At the age of 13, he won the Georgian version of The Voice, before going to study music and the piano at Tbilisi State Conservatory. He won several international awards, including first prize in the City of Vigo Piano Competition in 2019 (before a jury chaired by Martha Argerich), and second prize in the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in 2023. As a student of Nelson Goerner and Kirill Gerstein, he is supported by the Lisa Batiashvili Foundation. Incidentally, he played a recital at Bozar in November 2023 with the violinist. This time, he will treat us to a thematic solo recital in which he contrasts the sibling relationship between Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn with the musical and romantic relationship between Clara Wieck and Robert Schumann

Rising Stars is a project of the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO). Giorgi Gigashvili has been nominated by Konzerthaus Dortmund, Kölner Philharmonie, Philharmonie Luxembourg and NOSPR Katowice.
