The Dutch composer Rob Zuidam wrote Serres Impies for Het Collectief and soprano Katrien Baerts in 2017. Inspired by À Rebours (1894) by Joris-Karl Huysmans, Zuidam depicts the spectre of a decadent, misanthropic hermit who has eyes only for the extravagant flowers in his ‘godless greenhouses’…    My Illness is the Medicine I need by the Austrian Thomas Larcher bathes in a similar atmosphere of mental disorders. Karl Naegelens’ creation, Trois Nuits, is also well worth hearing. Finally, you will hear the Sérigraphies by Johannes Schöllhorn, musical ‘screen prints’ on the basis of piano pieces by Gabriël Fauré which function as instrumental intermezzi.
