‘Hip-hop in BOZAR ?! Seriously ?!’

Debate presented by David Mennessier

Thirty years after its birth, BOZAR is playing host to hip-hop. But hadn’t they pretended to ignore one another? Does this event signal the erosion of a historical dichotomy between the classical and the popular? And if one draws closer to the other, is the reverse also true? Can a counter culture which becomes established still be considered a “counter culture”?

Debate moderated by David Mennessier (project manager Belgium Underground)
